PEMIKIR Organises Wacana Malaysia Madani

MONDAY I 12 JUNE 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) recently held the Wacana Malaysia Madani or Malaysia Madani Discourse, organized by the Centre for Peace and Human Well-being (PEMIKIR) in collaboration with the Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development. The event took place at the prestigious Dewan Tuanku Canselor UMK Bachok on this auspicious day.

The Malaysia Madani Discourse shed light on the concept of Madani, which holds significant importance in the realms of civilization studies, sociology, and community affairs. Whether in Islamic or Western traditions, scholars such as Al-Farabi, Ibn Khaldun, Miskawayh, John Locke, and others have critically analyzed and explored the discourse surrounding the Madani concept.

Within the context of UMK, efforts have been made to implement the Madani concept through the Social Lab Project, a close collaboration between UMK's Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development and the community of Kg. Takang, Bachok, Kelantan. The project, which spanned five years from 2017 to 2021, culminated in the successful publication of a book by UMK Publishers titled "Projek Makmal Sosial Berasaskan Model Hijrah al-Rasul: Sebuah Perjalanan Program Pembangunan Komuniti TAKANG MADANI."

The Malaysia Madani Discourse program aims to support the national agenda and promote the concept of Malaysia Madani among the UMK community, particularly the people of Kelantan. By engaging UMK students, faculty, and external participants, including representatives from UiTM Kelantan and Bachok Vocational College, the program fostered a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Expressing his joy, the representative from PEMIKIR commended the efforts of UMK's Faculty of Language Studies and Human Development for their initiative in organizing the program. He expressed pride in the achievements of PEMIKIR, recognizing their dedication to promoting intellectual discourse and creating opportunities for meaningful knowledge exchange.

The closing ceremony was attended by a diverse range of participants, including students, staff, and esteemed guests. It served as a culmination of engaging discussions, thought-provoking presentations, and fruitful interactions. The event not only facilitated a deeper understanding of the Madani concept but also fostered a sense of shared responsibility towards nation-building and societal development.

PEMIKIR looks forward to organizing future events that promote intellectual growth, cultural understanding, and societal well-being, further solidifying its role as a center for excellence in education and research.
